What Does It Mean to Put On the Full Armor of God?
By Lord & Armor
Every Christian Is in a Battle
Whether we realize it or not, every believer is engaged in a spiritual battle. The struggles we face aren't always physical—they're often battles for our minds, our hearts, our peace, and our faith.
The Apostle Paul reminds us in Ephesians 6:11:
"Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes." (NIV)
Notice Paul doesn't say if spiritual battles come. He assumes they will. The question isn't whether we'll face them—it's whether we'll be prepared.
What Is the Armor of God?
The Armor of God is a picture of the spiritual protection God provides every believer. Just as a soldier would never enter battle without armor, Christians aren't meant to face life's challenges relying on their own strength.
In Ephesians 6:10–18, Paul describes six essential pieces of spiritual armor that God has given us.
The Belt of Truth
Truth holds everything together. In a world filled with confusion and shifting opinions, God's Word remains our foundation. When we know the truth, we're able to recognize lies and stand confidently in our faith.
The Breastplate of Righteousness
Our righteousness doesn't come from our own perfection—it comes through Jesus Christ. Because of His sacrifice, we can walk in confidence instead of shame, knowing our identity is found in Him.
The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace
The Gospel gives us peace with God and equips us to carry His message wherever we go. Even when life feels uncertain, we can walk forward with confidence because our hope is secure in Christ.
The Shield of Faith
Faith protects us against fear, doubt, discouragement, and the lies of the enemy. It doesn't mean life will be easy, but it means we trust God even when we can't see what He's doing.
The Helmet of Salvation
Our minds are often the battlefield. The helmet of salvation reminds us that our identity isn't found in our past mistakes, our accomplishments, or the opinions of others. We belong to Christ.
The Sword of the Spirit
The Word of God is the only offensive weapon listed in the armor. Jesus Himself responded to temptation by speaking Scripture. The more we know God's Word, the more prepared we are to stand firm against whatever comes our way.
How Do We Put On the Armor of God Every Day?
Putting on the Armor of God isn't a physical routine—it's a daily decision to rely on Christ.
It looks like:
-
Spending time in God's Word.
-
Beginning your day with prayer.
-
Choosing truth over fear.
-
Walking in obedience, even when it's difficult.
-
Trusting God's promises instead of your circumstances.
-
Remembering your identity in Christ.
The armor isn't something we wear once. It's something we intentionally put on every single day.
Why Lord & Armor Exists
At Lord & Armor, we believe our faith shouldn't stay inside the walls of a church—it should be lived out every day.
Our mission is to create apparel that points people to Jesus, starts meaningful conversations, and reminds believers to stand firm in their faith.
Every design is created with a purpose: to encourage you to boldly represent Christ wherever you go.
When you put on a Lord & Armor shirt, our prayer is that it serves as a reminder to first put on the full Armor of God.
Final Encouragement
Life will always bring challenges, but God has not left us defenseless.
He has equipped us with everything we need to stand firm, remain faithful, and walk confidently through every season.
Before you leave your home tomorrow, remember Paul's words:
"Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes." — Ephesians 6:10–11
May we choose each day to trust Him, stand firm in His truth, and boldly live out our faith.
